After years of training and building medical practices, physicians are facing extraordinary pressures and changes.  From the risk of medical errors to quality performance measurements, from changes in the way medical servieces are compensated, to increased levels of paperwork, the physician's ability to provide consistent high quality medical care for each patient is potentially compromised and can leave the physician overwhelmed and exposed to claims.

Your daily practice is filled with points of exposure on many levels.  Often, the care of your patients is fragmented by specialty consultants, diagnostic procedures performed out of your office, Physician'sAssistants, nurse practitioners and staff that should perform their work seemlessly, and patient co-morbidities often treated by other healthcare professionals.  Hospitals, faced with pressures to cut costs and to obtain the highest rates of reimbursement, are implementing significant quality measurement reviews, as often as every six (6) months.  Your statistics for length of stay, hospital readmissions, post-operative infections, for example, will have an impact on maintaining your credentials to admit and perform procedures for patient care.

As if these concerns were not enough, you will be confronted by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, which has the  potential to bring many more patients seeking healthcare from you.  There will be incentives to consolidate with larger institutions, in order to develop Accountable Care Organizations, or medical homes, with additional new legal and regulatory concerns, such as the full implementation and utilization of electronic medical records, in order to obtain higher rates of reimbursement.

Based on my 32 years of experience representing hospitals, clinics, physicians and patients, I offer you risk managment consultations and solutions to build customized procedures, systems and protocols to reduce the risk of medical errors, to increase patient safety, to accommodate the changes due to the Affordable Care Act, and to enhance your quality performance measurements with hospitals where you maintain admitting privileges.
